About Us

Fair Lawn Driving School was established in 1959 by Joseph Lomonico, the former Director of Driver Education at Fair Lawn High School.  Joseph took his experience and skills from the classroom to the road, teaching students to become safe and competent drivers.  Later his son, Neil, took over for his father.  A licensed driving instructor since 1979 and a NJ Law Enforcement Officer, Neil has combined his knowledge of driver and traffic safety with his father’s passion and expertise in teaching.  Neil holds a degree in Business Administration from Ramapo College, as well as, instructor certification in Driver Education from Jersey City University.  Additionally, Neil is certified by National Safety Council as a Defensive Driving Instructor.

Safety Is Our Top Priority

We ensure our students safety by employing the following:

Dual Controlled Brakes: Each car has a secondary break on the passenger side to ensure that proper speed/stopping distance is adhered to.

Dual Mirrors: We see what our student see. This allows us to react proactively and advise on proper maneuvering.

Wheel Guidance: If the student begins to drift, the instructor will gently guide the wheel to the appropriate position.
